Originally reserved for accounts with a minimum of 10,000 followers, swiping up gave the ability to direct your Instagram followers to a particular URL – creating an easy call-to-action with a simple upwards motion.

This ability was seen as a golden opportunity for marketers on Instagram, with other clickable actions being limited across the platform. (No matter how politely you ask, how often do people actually click through to the link on your bio…)

But now – you don’t need to strive to reach the giddy heights of 10,000 or more followers to have an easier way to drive web traffic from Instagram. The new link sticker has replaced the swipe up feature and is open to all!
