July was all about the second Google core update of the year. Yes, that’s right, the second! Google like to keep us on our toes.

Google started the July 2021 core update on the 1st of July and it took a full twelve days to roll out – so two days longer than the June 2021 core update (which only took 10 days).  As with all of Google’s core updates, it was a global update and so not specific to any category of website, language or region – a classic “broad core update” that Google seems to be releasing every few months at the moment.

There are lots of ongoing updates from Google at the moment, with about ten occurring in the past six weeks, including:

  • July 2021 core update
  • Google MUM roll out
  • June 28th spam update
  • June 23rd spam update
  • Google page experience update
  • Google predator algorithm update
  • June 21st core update

As with all core updates, we would expect to see some movements in both rankings and traffic over the next few weeks and we will keep an eye on things to make sure none of our clients are negatively affected.
