Running a Digital Marketing Agency in Cheshire, the team at Zool feel really lucky to be able to live and work in such an amazing part of the UK. It is an area full of stunning scenery, with a rich cultural and industrial heritage, and really knows how to cater to those who just like to relax! From rural activities to great golf courses, from spas to intriguing museums – Cheshire has it all. Here are Zool’s top five activities to do in this great region:

Wilmslow Golf Club

When not talking Website Design or SEO the boys at Zool like nothing more than to spend their downtime perfecting their swing at one of the many great golf clubs in the area. Wilmslow Golf Club is a personal favourite of theirs, as it is the only course in Cheshire where it was once possible for European Tour Professionals to earn Ryder Cup points. Established in 1889, Wilmslow Golf Club aims to bridge the gap between old and new, and the course has been developed over the years by many of the top golf course architects – in order to ensure it is a stiff challenge for even the most gifted of golfers. The setting, in the heart of some beautiful Cheshire farmland, adds to the course with a meandering stream running through four of the 18 holes. Better watch out for that one! Wilmslow Golf Course is a regular award winner and is recognised the world over for its environmental and ecological course management skills.

Mottram Hall Spa

The opulent and luxurious Mottram Hall is well known in the local area for its mix of fine dining, relaxing hotel rooms and fine golf course. However, it’s the Mottram Hall Spa that really makes a visit worthwhile. With 8 luxury treatment rooms, including two double suites, there is a multitude of therapies to choose from to calm or invigorate you – depending on your need! The Spa has recently introduced the new Alfresco Thermospace range including a rural herbal steam bath experience, a mineral stone bath and a unique wrap treatment where you float in a body of water but stay completely dry. The Spa also offers finishing touches such as nail treatments, waxing and eyebrow shaping. Spend a few hours here and you will return home a different person, I promise!

Tatton Park

No visit to Cheshire would be complete without a trip to Tatton Park – which won the Gold Award at last year’s Visit England’s Awards for Excellence. There are so many things to do at Tatton it’s hard to know where to start! There are over 50 acres of gardens including a Japanese garden, an Italian garden, a tower garden, a topiary, a maze and even a recently restored conservatory. With an amazing children’s playground, the mansion, deer walks, two cafes and not forgetting the farm – there is always something to see and do here. Tatton Park also hosts over 100 events a year including Shakespeare Week, Easter Story Time in the Garden, Lambing Fortnight and Kitemaking. It is a really good day out for all the family, and there is always something different to see and do. Tatton Park is a National Trust property, so you can get a discount on entry with your National Trust Card.

Styal Mill

Another great National Trust property, Styal Mill will tell you everything you need to know about what life was like in the industrial revolution. Built in 1784, and powered by Europe’s most powerful waterwheel, the Mill and Apprentice House have recently featured on Channel 4s popular drama series “The Mill”. In the Mill itself, you can tour the heritage machinery and steam engines as the guides show you how cotton production changed from the medieval period through to the 19th century – it can get quite noisy in there! You can also tour the apprentice house to see how the child apprentices of the time worked and lived. There are also some stunning gardens to while away a few hours in, or you could walk down to Styal Village which was created to house the workers from the Mill and is still a thriving community. End your visit with a quick pint at the local pub “The Ship Inn”.

Jodrell Bank

For something completely different, why not head to Jodrell Bank – winner of “Team of the Year” at the annual Marketing Cheshire Awards last year! The Discovery Centre is a great place to learn more about the World famous Lovell Telescope, the Big Bang, and to get your science on with all the hands-on activities in the exhibition room. A little-known fact about Jodrell Bank is its 35 acres of gardens – including the Galaxy Gardens planted by TV gardener Chris Beardshaw, the Space Playground for the kids, and the Tree Collection which features two national collections. And just to keep our Lou happy, there is a wonderful café which uses fresh local ingredients to produce seasonally inspired dishes. It really is worth a visit.

So, if you are keen to work with a full-service agency that loves Cheshire as much as you do, whether it be building a beautiful website or wanting to promote your site through SEO or PPC then please call the Zool team today or pop into our offices in Alderley Edge for a brew and a chat, you are always welcome!
